More Features For Windows 7, 2010-08-19
This upgrade from Windows 7 Premium to Ultimate gives me more options. I like the product and reccommend it. I am more comfortable with it than Windows Vista.
     What's not to like --, 2010-08-13
I purchased a new computer and it came with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed. After reading the advantages of Windows 7 Ultimate, I determined that these advantages were worthwhile.

The product arrived in a timely fashion and it was VERY EASY to install. As others have noted, you only get a product key (no disk) BUT that's all you need to perform the upgrade. The total time this took was 10 to 15 minutes.

Kudos to both Micrsoft and Amazon !!
     Great product, 2010-06-07
Windows 7 brings back my confidence in Microsoft after Vista. Everything works, haven't seen a blue screen sinc I installed it, found all my hardware without problems. A great investment.
     Upgrade to Ultimate 7, 2010-05-31
I'd upgraded from Vista Home Premium to 7 Home Premium because I ain't a techie, though I have worked with computers for nearly 30 years as an advanced novice. I help other non-techie friends with their basic machines, but I have an i7 920, 12 Gb DDR3 1333 RAM, a 512 Gb Radeon GPU, and some other mid-level goodies in my Dell 435mt. I had a networked laptop (wired, I live in a condo so wireless is less than ideal) with Vista Home Premium also. I really had no compelling reason to upgrade, but just decided to do so. Business version was good, but in my spirit of "overkill" (like the 12 Gb RAM), decided to go Ultimate. Upgrade to 7 Home was smoothe and had only a couple of minor issues (warned by the Microsoft Online Upgrade Advisor, so I was able to deal with them). Unlike past upgrades, the transition was easy (except for transferring my files which continues to bug me each time I change computers). Installing the Anytime Upgrade (cheap, no file transfers necessary!) to Ultimate was also without issue, though a couple of the questions about certain functions I've never used did throw me momentarily. I just "skipped" them, and have had no real issues since (about 6 months). I found no particular advantage in the upgrade for my daily home use, and don't use the business/corporate functions at all. So for me it was (again) overkill. But I've only had one "blue screen of death" (with XP and Vista, I usually got one about every two months for often unknown reasons) so far (again, an unknown reason since Microsoft's notices are generic and rarely give you any good info anymore, sending you to a help page that is so generic it has NEVER helped me). So it was nice to use to try to understand Ultimate's advantages (if any) to a home user like me. For quality, it was worth it; for usefulness, it probably wasn't, but compared to buying the full program, or dealing with a "big step" upgrade from Home to Ultimate, it was a bargain. Most home users will not need it. But if you are a tinkerer, like me, or just willing to learn for a buck or two extra, it was a good deal.
Don't buy Ulitmate, HOME is all you need, 2010-05-04
I bought a new Dell SX8100 last month that had Windows 7 home. Windows 7 Home is a great OS that made transfering over from an XP system almost painless. I am giving this review 3 stars for HOME. ULTIMATE deserves ZERO STARS. Here is why: I decided to upgrade to Ultimate so that I could incript my hard drive using Bitlocker. MS has a website called upgrade adviser that will scan your computer and tell you if your computer supports Ultimate. Well guess what, it does not tell you that you need a special microchip on your motherboard or harddrive to use Bitlocker in Ultimate. I installed the keycode Ultimate upgrade only to find out I cannot incript my harddrive after all because my new system does not have the special microchip required. Also, Ultimate is supposed to have the ability to run in XP virtual mode so that you can use some of your legacy software. I have spent considerable time trying to find the XP virtualization mode in Ultimate and could not find it. Low and behold you must download and install it from the MS website. I did so no less than 5 times and still every time I try to use XP mode my computer tells me I must download XP mode before I can run it!!! Unbelievable!I whole heartly recommend Windows 7 HOME. I strongly advise against wasting your time and money on Windows 7 ULTIMATE. It is an ultimate ripoff.
